A man is in critical condition after being shot in the head on Danforth Avenue early Thursday morning.
Police rushed to the scene outside the Paradise Bar at 3:40 a.m. Witnesses told them that several men got into a fight as the bar was closing down for the night.
Witnesses heard several shots being fired outside the bar and saw three or four suspects fleeing the scene. Two men were rushed to St. Michael's Hospital with gunshot wounds. The second man was shot in the leg.
The man who was shot in the head is believed to be in his twenties.
"(His injuries are) very critical, let's put it that way," said Det. Gerry Ball. "We don't know if he is going to make it or not."
Homicide investigators are keeping a close eye on the case, he said.
Investigators spent the day at the scene, placing markers to cover shell casings and other evidence on the sidewalk. Police also closed down the westbound lanes of the Danforth near the crime scene for several hours.
Authorities are looking to speak to anybody who celebrated New Year's Eve at the Paradise Bar or anyone who was in the area when the fight began.
Police are asking the public to call 416-808-5404 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS with information.
