Impaired driving charges have been laid against a Richmond Hill man following an early morning police chase that ended with a crash in Markham.
Ontario Provincial Police say they began pursuing the driver on Highway 404. The suspect then exited the highway but lost control of his car.
The vehicle left the roadway, ran over a small tree and crashed in a wooded area next to a subdivision at Warden Avenue and 16th Avenue.
The 21-year-old driver was taken from the scene in an ambulance and later charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.
Meanwhile, police also suspect impaired driving was involved in a crash on Highway 401 at Whites Road on Friday morning.
Police said a speeding motorist clipped the side of another car and then spun out into the ditch. Neither driver was hurt.
