Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has penned a love letter to Alberta, complimenting the Prairie residents for their “friendliness and hospitality” during a visit last week.
Ford met with Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel and also visited Calgary and Banff during the trip with my wife and children. He also took in two football games during his visit.
“The friendliness and hospitality that was extended everywhere we visited was truly heart-warming,” Ford wrote in a letter dated Aug. 23, 2012.
“We were able to take in the excitement at an Eskimos and a Stampeders game. The atmosphere at each game was electrifying. To add to the enjoyment, Mayor Mandel and Councillor (Karen) Leibovici joined us for the Edmonton game.
“My family and I are already planning our next visit back and look forward to exploring more of what Alberta has to offer.”
Ford enjoyed more than just football during his trip to Alberta. During his first press conference after the vacation, he praised a public fountain outside Edmonton city hall.
Ford said he opposed the current construction at Nathan Phillips Square and said he instead wanted to build a similar fountain in Toronto.
Ford ended his open letter by inviting Albertans to visit Toronto and stop by his office to say hello. He included his public email address in the letter.
