A 68-year-old woman has been killed in a collision involving a tractor-trailer in Woodbridge, Ont.
The woman and her husband were travelling on Highway 7 at around 8 p.m. on Tuesday when they crashed into a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Highway 7 and Pine Valley Road.
The woman's 65-year-old husband, who was driving the vehicle, was trapped in the wreckage for almost an hour but escaped without serious injury.
The 27-year driver of the tractor-trailer and a passenger in the big rig were not injured in the crash.
Residents in the area say accidents are a common occurrence on the busy highway.
"They either need to lower the speed limit or they need to do something because there are a lot of lives lost on number seven," local resident Phylis Fantauzzi told CTV News on Tuesday night.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident and there is no indication whether charges will be laid.
