TORONTO -- Phil Hall's Governor General's Award-winning poetry collection "Killdeer" has earned another accolade.
The volume, published by Book Thug, won a $20,000 Trillium Book Award on Wednesday night. "Killdeer" was also a contender for this year's Griffin Poetry Prize.
The winner for the French-language Trillium Book Award was Michele Vinet for "Jeudi Novembre" (Editions Prise).
This year's top prize for English-language poetry when to Nick Thran for "Earworm" (Nightwood Editions). The winner of the Trillium award for Poetry in French was Sonia Lamontagne for "A tire d'ailes" (Editions Prise de parole).
The winning poets each receive $10,000.
Previous winners of Trillium awards include such writers such as Margaret Atwood, Austin Clarke, Thomas King, Michael Ondaatje, Andree Lacelle and Francois Pare.
