SEVERN TOWNSHIP, Ont. - Provincial police have put the search for a missing boater on hold now that ice has formed on a central Ontario lake.
Two males were thrown into the frigid waters of Lake Couchiching near Orillia when their canoe capsized Tuesday morning.
Rescue crews were able to pull a 13-year-old boy from the lake, but the teen died in hospital a few hours later.
His 23-year-old relative has not been found.
Const. Peter Leon says while the search of the lake is on hold, a provincial police helicopter is going over the area.
