An Ontario Provincial Police officer was injured on Wednesday after his cruiser was sandwiched between tractor-trailers while stopped on the side of a Mississauga road.
The accident occurred on Dixie Road near Highway 407 at around 1 p.m., when a tractor-trailer struck the cruiser while it was stopped behind another vehicle.
OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said it appears the officer had pulled over behind a tractor-trailer when his cruiser was struck from behind.
Emergency crews were forced to cut a hole in the cruiser and pull the officer to safety.
The officer was treated by paramedics at the scene, before being taken to Brampton Civic Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the transport truck also suffered minor injuries.
