York Regional Police said Wednesday that it has laid additional charges against a Toronto man for attempting to run down two officers during a 2010 robbery investigation.
Police allege a 34-year-old man tried to ram the officers during an investigation in northwest Toronto on Dec. 10, 2010.
The officers were investigating a series of armed robberies that had taken place throughout the Regions of York, Peel, Halton, Waterloo, the City of Toronto, and Caledon.
Police say the accused tried to ram several police cars while driving erratically towards the officers who were trying to arrest him and another suspect.
The man now faces two counts of attempted murder, dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, assault with a weapon and breach of probation.
He was previously charged with 15 counts of robbery following his arrest in 2010.
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing in a Newmarket court on June 5.
