An abandoned lobster that was rescued by a southwestern Ontario humane society died peacefully overnight.
The lobster, nicknamed Mickey, died "in peace and quiet" during the night, the Lincoln County Humane Society said in a message posted on Twitter:
Sad news, Mickey the Lobster has died, he died in peace and quiet over night, but had 3 offers to fly out east. Thanks for the well wishes.

On Wednesday, the saltwater crustacean was found in a box in a business parking lot in St. Catharines, Ont. in what LCHS representatives suspect was part of an April Fools' Day prank.
"It is inappropriate to abandon any animals in the manner that this one was," LCHS executive director Kevin Strooband said in a statement.
Since Mickey's rescue, the humane society had provided it with a temporary home in a saltwater aquarium. Before its death, LCHS said it received three offers to fly the creature to the east coast.
