TORONTO - Former Ontario Liberal heavyweight Greg Sorbara will be the new chancellor at Toronto's York University.
The school says he will begin his three-year term this June.
Sorbara quit as MPP for the Toronto-area riding of Vaughan in 2012 after earlier serving as former premier Dalton McGuinty's finance minister.
He was first elected in 1985, quit politics after a decade but returned in 1999 as president of the Ontario Liberal Party, and was elected in a 2001 byelection.
The school says Sorbara did his undergraduate degree at York, earned a law degree there and received an honorary doctor of laws degree last year.
