One woman is dead after a fire engulfed part of Newmarket house Saturday night.
York police and fire services arrived on the scene the fire, where flames and smoke were coming out of the top level, at about 8 p.m.
Police said firefighters entered 479 Queen St. after bringing the blaze under control and found the woman's body inside.
The victim was taken to York Central Hospital for an autopsy to determine cause of death. Her identity has not been confirmed.
The Fire Marshall's office and criminal investigators are probing to determine the cause of the fire.
