A 14-year-old from St. Catharines, Ont., made history on Monday by becoming the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario
An exhausted Trinity Arsenault was greeted by her mother and a crowd of cheering fans at Marilyn Bell Park in Toronto Monday evening after completing the 52-kilometre swim in a little over 24 hours.
Arsenault began her trek at Queen's Royal Park in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Sunday night and battled 15-foot waves and thunderstorms throughout the trek.
Arsenault's mother, Christine Arsenault, swam the lake back in 2011. Along with holding the record as the youngest person to swim across Lake Ontario, Arsenault and her mom also became the first mother-daughter duo to complete the journey.
Trinity is hoping to raise money for Canadian Tire's JumpStart program, a charity that provides financial support to athletes who wish to participate in sports.
