Police are hunting for a suspect after an early-morning shooting in Malton left one man dead.

Peel police say the shooting took placeshortly after 2 a.m. Sunday at a townhouse complex on Brandon Gate near Goreway Dr., as a large party was underway.

The victim, 25-year-old Dennis Alexander, was brought to hospital by friends and later died of his injuries.

Police have not released the name of the victim and don’t yet have a suspect. Investigators are appealing to those who attended the party to come forward.

“We have investigative techniques to determine who was at the party but we would appreciate if they can come forward and give us their account of what’s taken place,” Const. Thomas Ruttan told CTV Toronto.

Ruttan couldnot say what may have led to the shooting.

“What I can tell you is that we are working hard to get to the bottom of what’s taken place here,” he said.

Ruttan said it’s vital that police speak to any witnesses that can help with the investigation.

“I would expect that there were quite a few people that did see what took place last night,” he added.

The crime scene spanned several blocks of the northeast Mississauga community.

Police said that following the shooting, partygoers scattered, potentially leaving evidence spread out throughout the neighbourhood.

Some neighbours told CTV Toronto that theyare tired of the violence in the area.

“It just gets worse all the time,” one man said.
