Activists calling for a global day of action rallied outside the Israeli consulate on Bloor Street, Saturday.

The protest, one of dozens held around the world, condemns the killing of nine people during a clash with Israeli commandos who boarded a Turkish aid ship last Monday.

Saturday's crowd of up to 200 protesters travelled from the consulate toward the downtown core, accompanied by a police escort.

The protest took place against the backdrop of another raid by the Israeli navy of a ship trying to reach Gaza.

Israeli police said the 19 people on board would be deported within hours.
