A man who turned himself in to Toronto police on Monday in connection to the thefts of two poppy donation boxes has been charged with a third offence.

Toronto police said a 26-year-old man and his mother walked into a police station shortly before 4 a.m. on Monday, one week after a poppy donation box was stolen from a Toronto pizza shop.

The box was snatched from a Pizza Nova store on the Queensway near Royal York on Oct. 31, and another box was taken from the Coffee Time on Lake Shore Boulevard West on Nov. 3.

Police later alleged that the same suspect was responsible for the theft of a donation box from a Pizza Pizza at 2814 Lake Shore Blvd. West, but were not immediately able to say when the theft occurred.

Tomas Hvozdar has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and one count of failing to comply with recognizance.

He was scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday, however, it was delayed until Tuesday.

Elsewhere in Ontario, Hamilton police are still searching for a man video taped stealing two donation boxes from a Tim Hortons last Thursday morning.
