A police officer shot and killed a coyote near Cherry Beach after it was acting aggressively Tuesday evening.
Toronto police were near the beach earlier in the day investigating the discovery of human remains in the same area near the Port Lands.
A coyote was seen in the area during that police investigation.
Police issued a release Tuesday evening urging anyone using the Cherry Beach area to keep an eye on small children and dogs, as there have been several coyote sightings.
As for the earlier investigation, police said that they did not consider the discovery of human remains suspicious.
Const. Victor Kwong said officers were first called to the area after a man walking his dog stumbled upon the body off Unwin Avenue, near Regatta Road, shortly before 7:30 a.m.
An autopsy will be held to determine the exact cause of death.
The identity of the deceased will not be released until the next of kin is notified, police said.
