An 18-year-old man made a second court appearance Monday afternoon, days after he was charged with the murder of an Eastern Ontario mother and daughter, as well as the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend.
Dean Brown was arrested Friday morning, hours after police were called to a reported shooting at a home in Mountain View, Ont., south of Bellevile, where the bodies of 46-year-old Tracy Hannah and her 14-year-old daughter Whitney Hannah were found.
Also inside the house was 18-year-old Shannon Hannah -- an elder daughter of Tracy and her husband Ted Hannah -- who had been shot. She had recently broken up with Brown.
Another young woman was inside the house on Friday morning. She had slept over and hid in a closet during the shooting.
Family friends say Brown had spent Thursday night at the Hannah household.
After police arrived at the Hannah household early Friday morning, an intense manhunt ensued which led to Brown's arrest in Trenton, Ont.
Brown faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. He also appeared briefly in court Saturday.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is also investigating allegations that the 18-year-old man was being served in a bar several hours before the murders took place.
Spokesperson Lisa Murray said the commission has learned Brown was spotted drinking in Matt and Joe's nightclub on Bell Blvd. last Thursday night.
Meanwhile, post-mortem examinations are scheduled to take place Monday on the bodies of the two deceased victims.
