Visitors to the Toronto Zoo got a lot closer to the wildlife than expected after two long-tailed lemurs escaped from their pen and roamed the zoo’s grounds on Wednesday.
“They were just walking around like cats,” Nuala Zietsma told CTV Toronto.
She captured a short video of the lemurs while she was visiting the zoo with her two-year-old son.
Zietsma said the lemurs seemed friendly and curious, but they didn’t get too close to the onlookers.
The video shows the lemurs wandering the zoo’s African Rainforest Pavilion as passersby gathered to take a closer look at the ring-tailed creatures.
Zietsma said she alerted the zoo’s staff to the roaming lemurs and the area was quickly cleared.
To mark the occasion, Zietsma said she bought her son a toy lemur at the gift store.
