TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs signed checking-line winger Mike Brown to a US$2.215-million, three-year contract extension Wednesday.
He'll earn $760,000 next season and $725,000 each of the two years following that.
"We are extremely pleased to have Mike under contract for the next three years," GM Brian Burke said in a statement. "His blend of character, energy and toughness has proven to be a good fit in the overall structure and makeup of our team."
The 25-year-old has two goals and three assists in 26 games for the Leafs this season.
He suffered an undisclosed upper-body injury in Toronto's 4-3 shootout win over Florida on Tuesday.
Brown was acquired from Anaheim in exchange for a fifth-round pick at the entry draft last June
