Ontarians consider jobs and the economy to be a top election issue, according to a new Nanos Research poll for CTV CP24 and the Globe and Mail.
In the survey of 900 eligible voters, 28.4 per cent of respondents ranked the combination jobs and the economy as the most important provincial election issue.
But health care also remained at the top of the voter agenda, with 23.6 per cent of respondents selecting it as an important topic.
Other voter concerns included:
- High taxes (13.6 per cent)
- Education (10.1 per cent)
The poll, which was released Tuesday, has a margin of error of +/- 3.3 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
The numbers suggest Ontario's party leaders would be wise to stress topics like job creation and balancing the budget on the campaign trail.
Both the Liberals and the Progressive Conservatives have vowed to eliminate Ontario's deficit by the 2017-18 fiscal year.
The latest data shows little change from a previous Nanos poll in which voters chose the economy as the province's most pressing election issue.
