With less than a week until Ontario's voters cast their ballots, the Liberal party is slightly edging out the other parties in support, a poll suggests.
According to the Nanos Research survey, conducted for CTV, CP24 and the Globe and Mail, the Liberals have a 4.5 percentage point lead:
- Liberals: 37.7 per cent
- Progressive Conservatives: 33.2 per cent
- NDP: 25.8 per cent
- Green Party is at 2.1 per cent.
The polling firm surveyed 900 Ontarians aged 18 and over on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The margin of error is +/- 3.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20.
Meanwhile, more than a quarter of voters believe none of the Ontario party leaders will keep their campaign promises.
The Nanos Research survey also asked respondents their views of each provincial party leader, including whether the leaders will keep promises.
When asked which of the provincial party leaders will keep their promises, the answer "none of them" scored the highest:
- None of them - 27.2 per cent
- Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak - 23.4 per cent
- Liberal Leader Dalton McGuinty - 20.5 per cent
- New Democrat Leader Andrea Horwath - 17.5 per cent
As for which leader respondents thought cared the most about Canadians, Hudak had only a slight edge with 24.1 per cent, followed by McGuinty with 22.5 per cent and Horwath with 21.6 per cent.
When respondents were asked which leader had views the most similar to respondents, Hudak and McGuinty were tied at 29 per cent.
Horwath came in at 21.5 per cent and Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner at 1.2 per cent.
