All eastbound Highway 401 lanes have reopened hours after a crash and fuel spill in Newcastle on Monday.
All eastbound lanes were closed at Mill Street at approximately 5:30 a.m., when two transport trucks and a delivery truck collided.
Provincial police said one of the trucks tried to pass another at the time of the crash, but specific details have not been released.
One person was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The crash left debris and fuel across the road, and the highway was completely closed off for hours as crews cleaned up.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., police were able to open two of the three lanes. The right lane reopened by 12:30 p.m.
Representatives from the Ministry of Environment were called to the scene to examine the spill.
