A woman in her 50s has been charged in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a passenger over the weekend.
The crash occurred near Keele Street and Finch Avenue West at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
Police said a 53-year-old woman was driving a Nissan Pathfinder around a curve on Derrydown Road when the vehicle left the roadway. The SUV mounted the curb at Killamarsh Road and then struck a tree.
A 46-year-old passenger seated in the back of the vehicle was injured, and rushed to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead.
Following an investigation, the driver is facing 10 charges including impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death. She has been identified as Thi Ngo, of Toronto.
