A body was found in the wreckage of a fire-ravaged home in North York, officials confirmed on Friday morning.
The discovery came a day after a three-alarm fire ripped through the home at 28 Camwood Cres., near the Don Valley Parkway and York Mills Road early in the morning on New Year's Day.
On Thursday, firefighters noted that the man who lived in the home was unaccounted for, but couldn't search the home because the fire had caused the ground floor to collapse.
Shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, a representative of the Ontario Fire Marshal confirmed that a body had been found, but didn't say whether it was that of the missing man.
The coroner must examine the body before it can be formally identified.
