Streetcar, watermain and roadway work at Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street means the intersection is fully closed in all directions for two weeks, starting Monday.
The City of Toronto and the TTC are launching Phase 2 of a construction project preparing the area for the launch of new streetcars.
From July 28 to Aug. 11, the TTC will pull out sections of track and switches at the intersection and rebuild it completely.
During the two-week closure, Dundas will be closed to traffic between Bathurst Street and University Avenue, and Spadina will be shut down between Queen and College Streets.
Local businesses will be open during construction, and pedestrians will have full access to the area.
The two-week closure is the second part of a planned construction project which started July 14. During Phase 1, the city worked to replace a watermain while the TTC began work to lower a streetcar platform to accommodate the new low-floor vehicles.
More intersection work planned
Phase 3 is scheduled to begin on Aug. 11, which will include a partial closure of the intersection. Buses will operate through the intersection until Aug. 30.
Full streetcar service will resume Aug. 31 with new streetcars in operation.
