The intersection of Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street West is partially closed for the next two weeks due to track work, in preparation for the launch of the new TTC streetcars.
The tracks and platforms are being upgraded to make room for the fleet of low-floor streetcars. Traffic on both Dundas and Spadina is reduced to one lane in each direction until July 28.
From July 28 to Aug. 11, the intersection will be shut down entirely. Eastbound traffic on Dundas will be detoured at Bathurst Street, while westbound traffic will be diverted at University.
On Spadina, northbound traffic will be detoured at Queen Street West, and southbound traffic will be detoured at College Street.
TTC streetcar routes disrupted
The track work will affect the 505 Dundas and 510 Spadina streetcars, which normally use the intersection.
For the next four weeks, the 505 will divert to and from Dundas via McCaul, Bathurst and College Streets.
From Monday until Aug. 30, the 510 streetcars will be replaced by buses with the following adjustments:
- July 14 to July 28, the 510 buses will operate through the intersection.
- July 28 to Aug. 11, the north part of the route will operate between Spadina Station and Baldwin Street. The south portion of the route will operate between Sullivan Street and Queens Quay. Customers will have to exit the bus and walk between Baldwin and Sullivan streets.
- Aug. 11 to Aug. 30, buses will operate through the intersection.
Full streetcar service will resume on Aug. 31 with the new streetcars in operation.
