Police are investigating the sudden and suspicious death of a woman at a home near York University on Friday.
The body of a 23-year-old woman was found earlier in the day inside a reported rooming house located at 27 Aldwinckle Hts., near Keele Street and Finch Avenue.
Police say it is too early in the investigation to say who found the body and to release the victim's identity. The incident was being described as a suspicious death.
"The circumstances in which she was located are very concerning to us. We have engaged the coroner and pathologist." Insp. Edward Boyd told reporters from the scene.
The woman, who was found in the building's basement apartment, is believed to have been a Chinese exchange student.
A representative from the Chinese consulate visited the scene Friday afternoon after being contacted by the woman's mother in China.
Residents in the area surrounding York University have been calling for a larger police presence after a series of attacks on women in the area.
