Easter Monday is not a statutory holiday in Ontario, but most government services, including LCBOs and Beer Stores, are closed that day.
Some businesses and services also shut down for Easter Monday, giving employees an extra-long weekend.
Sound confusing? It can be. Here are some details to help you keep track of what’s open and what’s closed.
Alcohol
LCBO stores were closed Friday and Sunday. Most stores are open but have modified hours on Monday.
Beer Store locations were closed Friday and Sunday, but will have normal hours on Monday.
Malls
Yorkdale Shopping Centre, Scarborough Town Centre, Centerpoint Mall, Fairview Mall, Cloverdale Mall, Dufferin Mall, Vaughan Mills and Sherway Gardens are all closed Friday and Sunday, but open Saturday and Monday.
The Toronto Eaton Centre and Hillcrest Mall are both open all weekend.
Grocery stores
Loblaws locations were closed Sunday, but open Monday with regular hours.
All non-24-hour Metro locations open with regular hours on Monday, but some 24-hour stores may close Monday evening.
City services
Curbside garbage collection happened as usual on Friday, but Monday’s collection moves to Tuesday. Drop-off depots are closed Friday and Monday.
All Toronto Public Library branches are closed Friday, Sunday and Monday, but open Saturday.
Transportation
The TTC ran normally all weekend, except for Friday, when they were on "holiday service," which is the Sunday schedule with earlier start times.
GO Transit ran normally all weekend, except for Friday, when it was running on a Sunday schedule.
Leisure
The Royal Ontario Museum, Ontario Science Centre, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada and Toronto Zoo are open during their normal hours.
The Art Gallery of Ontario is open Friday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Saturday and Sunday (10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.), but closed Monday.
