Toronto police moved on a group of Occupy Toronto protesters who set up camp outside a downtown courthouse Thursday morning.
Officers were dispatched to the encampment at 361 University Ave., near Osgood Hall, where a handful of people had gathered overnight.
The scene was cleared without incident shortly after 8 a.m.
Protesters had left messages scrawled in chalk on the walls of the courthouse surrounding the encampment, including the claim that "Canada is illegal."
Tensions between Occupy Toronto demonstrators and Toronto police have heightened recently after two protesters were injured during an arrest last week.
One of the protesters, 36-year-old Angela Turvey, suffered a fractured eye socket and broken nose during the confrontation last Friday.
Ontario's Special Investigation's Unit is probing the injuries. A total of four investigators have been assigned to the case.
