Toronto broke a 35-year-old temperature record Sunday afternoon as the mercury climbed to 17 C.
Torontonians ditched their winter coats, hitting the streets and beaches on an unseasonably warm, sunny day.
The previous record for March 11 was a balmy 15.3 C in 1977.
Warmer-than-usual weather isn't expected to wither away anytime soon. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement saying residents across southern Ontario should anticipate a pleasantly mild week.
Temperatures across the region are expected to be 10 to 15 degrees above normal value thanks to a high pressure system moving over the southern United States.
According to Environment Canada, Toronto typically sees a high of 4 C at this time of year.
