WELLAND, Ont. -- One cyclist is in critical condition and two others have been treated and released from hospital after being hit by a pickup truck Tuesday night.
The cyclists were riding in Welland, Ont., at about 10:30 p.m. (on South Pelham Road) when one of the riders, an 18-year-old woman, fell onto the roadway.
Niagara regional police say her riding companions -- two men aged 20 and 25 -- rushed to her aid and all three were hit by an approaching pickup truck.
Police have not said if any charges will be laid against the 68-year-old Welland man driving the pickup.
The injured woman was airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital while the other cyclists were treated and released from hospital.
The pickup driver and his 30-year-old female passenger were uninjured.
