The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a 50-year-old man was shot in an altercation with police in Mississauga Tuesday afternoon.
According to the SIU, which investigates serious incidents involving police officers in Ontario, Peel police sent an officer to Lakeshore Road East, just east of Hurontario Street, at about 1:15 p.m.
A 50-year-old man was shot in the arm, the SIU said.
Peel police said there was a knife involved, but no one was hurt with the knife.
The man was taken to the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga for treatment.
The SIU continues to investigate and is asking any witnesses to call the lead investigator at 416-641-1866.
