York police are looking for several suspects after a chain of muggings in Newmarket.
The four robberies happened early Saturday morning within 90 minutes of each other.
The first incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. near a convenience store on Davis Drive. Police said the victim was heading to the store to buy cigarettes when he was approached by the suspects.
The robbers demanded money, and threw the man to the ground, kicking him in the head and upper body. They then took his wallet and fled the area in a black newer-model four-door Honda Accord.
About 35 minutes later, a youth was approached next to another store. Police said the suspects stole an iPod and a few other items from him before fleeing the scene.
The suspects then approached a third man by slowly passing him in their car and asking for directions before suddenly demanding his backpack. The victim handed it over and fled, police said.
Finally, two suspects on foot and one in a vehicle mugged a fourth victim around 2:30 a.m. Police said the robbers hit the male on the head when he refused to hand over his bag, and then grabbed the item and left. He was treated for a minor injury.
York Police said some of the crimes involved four suspects, but descriptions are available for just three of the suspects, described as white males:
- The first is 6 feet tall, with a slim build, wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans;
- The second is 5 feet 4 inches tall, with a medium build, wearing a white jacket and grey jeans; and
- The third is 5 feet 8 inches tall, medium build, wearing a black shirt.
Police also described the Honda Accord as a late 1980s or early 1990s model.
