One man is dead and a second is in hospital after a downtown shooting early Sunday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of a shooting on George Street between Gerrard Street East and Dundas Street East at about 2:30 a.m., where they found two injured men.
One of the men was shot in the stomach, and was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 5 a.m. He has been identified as Rala Federick, 36.
A 37-year-old man was shot in the wrist, and was transported to Mount Sinai with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been released.
George Street was shut down between Gerrard and Dundas as police investigated.
Police described the suspect as a black man with a light complexion, aged 20 to 30, with a heavy build. Investigators would like to speak to anyone who was in the area during or after the shooting to call police at 416-808-5100.
