TORONTO - Ontario's New Democrats plan to nominate 30 candidates over the next two weeks, nearly doubling their slate by the end of the month.
NDP Leader Andrea Horwath says the party will have about 60 candidates nominated by the time it releases its election platform at a conference June 24.
She says there has been more interest this year than in previous elections, fuelled in part by excitement over the party's strong federal showing last month.
The New Democrats will have candidates in all 107 ridings.
The party currently holds 10 seats at the provincial legislature and while Horwath says she'd like to see that number grow, she wouldn't speculate on what might happen come the Oct. 6 vote.
She says it'll be up to voters to decide what role they want the NDP to play at Queen's Park.
