PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The Ontario government is giving municipalities $20-million in grants over the next three years to fight climate change.

Premier Dalton McGuinty said Wednesday that the cash will help municipalities reduce their greenhouse-gas emissions.

The $20-million fund will provide cash to municipalities for various environmental projects.

Eva Ligeti, with Clean Air Partnership, said urban activities are responsible for the bulk of harmful emissions.

Mr. McGuinty said municipalities want to be part of the fight against climate change.

The announcement is part of the Liberal's much-anticipated climate-change plan, which is being rolled out over the next few weeks.
