A man who was shot after stabbing a police officer has died in hospital Friday.
Peter Lumanglas, 38, was shot by a police officer early Monday after an altercation during a routine traffic stop.
The police officer was stabbed in the neck and a resident near the incident at Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue reported hearing five shots ring out.
Lumanglas was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital after he was shot and he died of his injuries in hospital on Friday morning.
An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning.
The SIU continues to look into this incident.
Sources have identified the police officer who was stabbed before he shot Lumanglas as Const. Jeff Blair, who works with 13 Division's traffic unit.
While his injuries were considered serious, Blair is expected to recover.
