There were tense moments at Canada's busiest airport on Friday morning after a man ran through a security check without being screened at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.
Officials with the Greater Toronto Airports Authority said the incident occurred inside Terminal 1 at about 9:30 a.m.
Police and airport security personnel chased down the 20-year-old man and had him in custody within 10 minutes.
The suspect had attempted to board an Air Canada Jazz flight to Charlottetown, but was arrested, authorities said.
Peel police were investigating whether he had a ticket and was travelling somewhere or whether he had just come off a plane.
The investigation caused the flight to Charlottetown to be delayed for about three hours. Several other flights experienced minor delays.
Police were still interviewing some passengers over the noon hour, but said the situation was under control.
Jonathan Simpson, of Toronto, has been charged with threatening, assault and mischief. He is set to appear in a Brampton court on Saturday.
