Hamilton Police are investigating a threat made against a high school in the Rolston area on Tuesday morning.
Officers were called to Westmount Secondary School at 39 Montcalm Dr. around 10:30 a.m. after a telephone threat was made.
Police did not provide any details on the nature of the threat.
The school was evacuated and placed under a hold and secure order.
“All staff and students were moved to a safe location at a nearby recreation centre,” reads a statement by Hamilton Police on Tuesday afternoon.
“Police officers were assigned to be present and work alongside the staff and students while an investigation into the validity of the threat was being commenced at the school.”
Officials with the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board later dismissed students from classes for the remainder of the day.
