GODERICH, Ont. - Officials in Goderich have decided to keep in place the state of emergency declared following a tornado that devastated the town on Aug. 21.
Mayor Deb Shewfelt says they decided to err on the side of caution and keep the state of emergency in effect.
That means many parts of downtown Goderich will remain fenced off and inaccessible to business and homeowners.
Shewfelt says reports on whether some buildings are safe won't be available until next week.
Crews continue work around the clock on damaged properties.
One man was killed and at least 37 people were injured when the tornado carved a path through the town.
