TORONTO - Charges have been laid against a former Toronto police officer who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman during an arrest.
The charges follow an investigation by the Special Investigations Unit into the alleged incident in April.
Michael Carrington, who resigned from the force in September, is charged with sexual assault and breach of trust.
A summons has been issued requiring him to appear in court in Toronto on Nov. 21.
The SIU, which says it cannot comment further on the case, investigates all cases of serious injuries and deaths involving police.
