TORONTO - Ontario Energy Minister Gerry Phillips is denying reports that he wants to quit his portfolio -- a move that would likely trigger a cabinet shuffle.
The Globe and Mail is reporting that Premier Dalton McGuinty is planning a shakeup of the Ontario cabinet because Phillips wants to leave his portfolio for personal reasons.
Phillips says he's happy with his job, although he knows he can't keep it forever.
But he says it's up to the premier to decide how long he stays with his portfolio.
The newspaper cites sources who say McGuinty is planning to create a new super ministry that would combine responsibility for energy and infrastructure under one roof.
Infrastructure Ontario, a provincial Crown agency, is currently responsible for the government's ambitious $26-billion plan to expand and refurbish its nuclear-power fleet.
