ST. THOMAS, Ont. - A Toronto comedian whose body was found in a burned-out home in St. Thomas, Ont., briefly hosted an Internet comedy show based on his exploits outside Toronto nightclubs.
Police say the death of Jason David Farro, 40, is being treated as a homicide after an autopsy determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Farro, a stand-up comedian, was in the city visiting friends.
Const. Cam Constable says no one is in custody, and police are not commenting on possible suspects.
Farro was a father of four children and had performed in comedy clubs across Canada.
In a grainy YouTube video of one of his performances, Farro told jokes about raising his kids, and strange things he noticed while travelling.
A memorial Facebook group says Farro went by the name "Jmon."
Jmon used to host a comedy series on the website blogtv.ca. The show was cancelled in 2007 and one fan started an unsuccessful petition to try and revive it.
The videos are no longer on the website.
In a 2007 post, a blog called Torontoist says the show featured Jmon and a woman known as BabyG driving around Toronto in a Hummer to attend different nightclub shows they found in magazine listings.
Torontoist describes one episode in which the two pick up drunken strangers in their car and visit a 24-hour restaurant.
Friends and family who posted on Facebook memorials said they would remember Farro for his "crazy" sense of humour.
Kristin Elder, who identified Farro as "dad" wrote "I know we didn't have the best relationship and now I won't have the chance to make it right. I'm sorry. I love you."
A user with the name Tom Greek wrote he was still in shock over the murder.
"I sure hope whoever did this to him (will) get caught and the case is finally solved," he said.
Details surrounding a memorial service are still being worked out, according to a posting on Facebook.
Farro's background is still unclear but Toronto's Second City comedy school says he took a short improvisation course in 2003.
Columbia Academy in Vancouver confirmed he was a video and television production student for two months in 1994.
