Peel Police are investigating after a woman’s body was found in Mississauga on Sunday.

A passerby discovered the body in a forested area close to the South Service Road and Dixie Road shortly after 1 p.m. and alerted police.

Police told CTVToronto.ca the body was that of a homeless woman and investigators don’t believe the death is suspicious.

“We don’t believe it’s criminal. It was probably natural causes,” said Const. Fiona Thivierge.

She said police have not determined the age of the woman, who is described as elderly.

It is suspected that the woman has been dead for some time.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
