York Regional Police said Tuesday that they are "actively" investigating the discovery of a body by the side of a road near Bolton, Ont. one day earlier.
Police have not identified the remains, which were found in the ditch along Mt. Pleasant Road near the Caledon-King Town Line at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
An autopsy on the body began Tuesday afternoon and an update was expected later in the day.
Meanwhile, police continued a ground search of the area.
Police are asking anyone who may know the identity of the victim, or who travelled in the area and saw anything suspicious, to come forward.
