A raccoon was removed from a commuter train after the furry stowaway hitched a ride from Toronto to Burlington, Ont.
The critter was caught hiding under a seat on a GO Transit train at Toronto's Union Station on Tuesday morning, Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins said in a message posted to Twitter.
She said the raccoon was isolated in a train car, which Aikins called "his private coach."
The train made its way to Aldershot Station in Burlington, while GO Transit arranged for local wildlife experts to remove it from the train when it arrived. Aikins said it was safely removed upon arrival.
The bandit's mug shot was then posted on Twitter by GO Transit Safety Officer Tyler Kay.
"Judging by the dark circles around his eyes, this little guy could have used some extra sleep," Kay wrote.
"He's been taken in for questioning," she joked, adding that she was unable to confirm whether the raccoon paid its fare before boarding.
She said the train is being inspected for damage, then will be disinfected and cleaned before being put back into service. Crews are trying to figure out how it got onto the train.
