A buffalo has died and two others are on the loose along a major highway in Niagara Falls.
Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said the lumbering animal died after being struck by two vehicles on the Queen Elizabeth Way, near Lyons Creek Road in Niagara Falls.
In a message posted to Twitter shortly before 7 a.m., Schmidt said two other buffalo were also spotted on the highway.
Police told reporters the animals escaped from a farm on nearby Willowdell Road on Sunday. They're warning drivers to be cautious in the area.
