TORONTO - There were delays during the morning rush at the Finch subway station in north Toronto as striking York Region Transit workers walked a picket line.
Buses were delayed for a few minutes each by the line set up by about 100 pickets.
The workers were voicing their displeasure at the lack of progress being made in settling the dispute.
About 600 York Region and Viva drivers went on strike about five weeks ago.
The Amalgamated Transit Union says members are frustrated at the refusal of the private bus contractors to end the strike by agreeing to arbitration.
Ontario Labour Minister Linda Jeffrey says the province is not considering forcing an end to the strike, adding provincial mediators are available to help bring the two sides together.
"Certainly we want everybody to get back to the table," she said.
"We've offered our mediators. They're good at what they do."
