A 20-year-old woman faces 10 charges after a stolen Hummer limousine left a trail of destruction on a Toronto street early Friday morning.
A limo driver left the large vehicle idling when he stopped for a bathroom break at Yonge and Wellesley Streets at about 1 a.m., police say.
A woman tried to hitch a ride with the passengers inside the Hummer, but when they stopped her, she got behind the wheel. The passengers then jumped out of the vehicle, police said.
Witnesses said the limo was taken on a joyride, and struck a pedestrian, a house, a hydro pole and three vehicles before coming to a stop on Inglewood Drive. The victim suffered minor injuries.
Diane Hancox of Calgary is charged with:
- Six counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident
- Driving without a licence
- Dangerous driving
- Theft over $5,000
- Possession of stolen property
The accused was scheduled to appear at the College Park courts on Friday.
