Police have blocked off a Malvern intersection where a woman was hit by a pickup truck on Thursday morning.
The truck struck the 40-year-old pedestrian as she crossed the intersection at Neilson Road and Finch Avenue East at about 6 a.m.
Early reports said the victim was unconscious and bleeding from the nose shortly after the collision. She was conscious and breathing by the time paramedics took her to Sunnybrook hospital, said Toronto Emergency Medical Services
The woman's condition was considered serious, said EMS officials, adding she may have a head injury.
The eastbound lanes of Finch Avenue and the southbound lanes of Neilson Road near the intersection are expected to be blocked off for much of the morning as police probe the collision.
About 45 minutes after the Malvern collision, another woman struck downtown -- and she may also have head injury, say police.
The woman was struck on Yonge Street north of College Street at about 6:45 a.m. One lane was closed on the busy street as police probed the crash.
